Use Smart Swedish VAT for VAT reporting

The workflow for VAT reporting with Smart Swedish VAT is as follows:

User Smart Swedish VAT for VAT reporting

  1. You can use Smart Swedish VAT to submit the VAT Return electronically when it's time report VAT to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket). Either by uploading the file manually or by using the API to send the VAT Return directly.
  2. Navigate to VAT Statements and open the VAT Statement that you use for VAT reconciliation.
  3. If you have made any changes in the VAT Posting Setup page since your last submitted VAT Return, select the Update Template Lines.
  4. Preview the VAT Statement and filter the amounts for the VAT period. See information on Microsoft Learn on how to preview a VAT Statement.
  5. Check and analyze the VAT Statement Lines making sure that all figures are correct.
  6. It is not possible to change any amounts manually.
    1. All lines to be reported must also have the correct Box No.
  7. Any corrections that needs to be done, must be posted.
  8. When you are ready to report to the Swedish Tax Agency, you can select the Create VAT Return action, on the VAT Statements page to create a VAT Return based on the VAT Statement Lines. All lines with a Box No. will be added to the VAT Return. The Version field on the VAT Return page will be set according to the Default Return Report Version on the Swedish Tax Agency Setup page.
  9. Check the VAT Return Lines, make sure all figures are correct and then select the Release action.
  10. If figures are incorrect, reopen the VAT Return and select Suggest Lines. This reloads lines from the VAT Statement, allowing you to adjust filters. Repeat as needed until all figures are correct.
  11. Select the Submit action on the VAT Return page.
  12. A file in the correct format for submission to the Swedish Tax Agency is downloaded. (When Version is set to File Export.)
  13. Sign in with BankID to authenticate the submission. (When Version is set to API Submission, the VAT Return is submitted directly to the Swedish Tax Agency using the API.)
  14. If submission fails, check the validation message from Skatteverket. Correct any errors and try again, or change Version to File Export and submit the file manually.
  15. If the submission is successful, the VAT Return will have the status Submitted.
  16. Sign the VAT return using BankID on the Swedish Tax Agency website.
  17. After signing the VAT Return on the Swedish Tax Agency website, mark it as Accepted. If you uploaded the file manually, mark it as Submitted first.
  18. When the VAT Return has the status Accepted the Calculate and Post VAT Settlement action is enabled, proceed to select it to post the VAT settlement in the general ledger and close the VAT Period.
Note

All VAT Statement Lines to be reported must have the correct Box No., lines without Box No. will not be added on the VAT Return.

Tip

We recommend that you always use the Calculate and Post VAT Settlement action to post the VAT to the settlement account, instead of doing it manually. The Calculate and Post VAT Settlement action closes the VAT transactions and makes it easier to see and report transactions that are posted in a previous (closed) VAT period.

Note

Both workflows show which functions are included in the standard Dynamics 365 Business Central and what is specific to Smart Swedish VAT.
