Automatic creation of default dimensions
Smart Dimensions enables automatic creation of new dimension values and assigning them as default dimensions on the tables set up on the Automatic Default Dimensions page. It is possible to set up any table that supports default dimensions in Dynamics 365 Business Central including extensions.
Note
To be able to set up Smart Dimensions you first need to create the relevant Dimensions. See information on setting up dimensions on Microsoft Learn.
- Choose the search icon (ALT+Q), enter Automatic Default Dimensions, and then choose the related link.
- Hover over a field to read a short description.
- Specify the table for which automatic dimensions should be created in the Table ID field.
- Specify the dimension for which automatic dimension values should be created in the Dimension Code field.
- Specify the field to use for assigning new dimension value names in the Dimension Value Name Field No. field.
- Log out from Business Central to activate the change.
Note
The set up will not be applied until all clients have been restarted.
Note
The Name or Description field in the selected table will be suggested in the Dimension Value Name Field No. but it is possible to change it.
