    How To Use Date Filter

You can use Date Filters to filter on specific dates that are relative to the current day or the work date that is set on the My Settings page. This will allow you to use date formulas when specifying date filters on actions and reports.

When Eagle is installed, a variety of date formulas and date ranges are created which can be used when applying date filters to reports and actions on the Functions Setup page. If you want to define your own date formulas and date ranges or delete the ones that have been created automatically, it is possible.

    Tip

The Combined Date Filter can be used as the date calculation type on the Date Filters page. This allows combining date formulas and date ranges, providing more filter options. Combined Date Filters can be applied when using Date Filters on Functions.

    Note

You can use the Recreate action on the Date Formulas and the Date Ranges page to insert and update the entries created by the app.

    Apply Date Filters

    1. Choose any record on the Function Setup page.
    2. Select the Date Filters action.
    3. Enter a code in the Date Code field. Hover over a field to read a short description.
    4. It is possible to select Date Range or Date Formula in the Date Calculation Type field.
    5. It is possible to select Work Date or Current Day in the Relative to field.
    Note

To be able to specify date filters, a filter must first be applied on the Filters page. It does not matter which filter is set. If no Filters has been set when selecting the Date Filters action the Filter request page will be opened.

    Note

A Date Formula specifies how to calculate a date relative to the current day or work date. A Date Range consists of one or two Date Formulas that specifies how the starting date and the ending date should be calculated of the date range. Both Date Formulas and Date Ranges can be used in Date Filters.

    Create Date Formulas

    1. Choose the search icon (ALT+Q), enter Date Formulas and then choose the related link.
    2. Enter a code, a description, and a date formula. Hover over a field to read a short description.
    3. The records inserted by a user will be set as User Defined.

The date formula can contain a maximum of 20 characters, both numbers and letters. You can use the following letters:

    Letter Meaning
    C Current
    D Day(s)
    W Week(s)
    M Month(s)
    Q Quarter(s)
    Y Year(s)

You can construct a date formula in three ways.

The following example shows how to use C, for current, and a time unit:

    Expression Meaning
CW Last day of current week
CM Last day of Current month
CQ Last day of current quarter
CY Last day of current year
-CW First day of current week
-CM First day of current month
-CQ First day of current quarter
-CY First day of current year

The following example shows how to use a number and a time unit:

    Expression Meaning
    10D 10 days from today
    2W 2 weeks from today

The following example shows how to use a time unit and a number:

    Expression Meaning
D10 The next 10th day of a month
WD5 The next 5th day of a week (Friday)

The following example shows how you can combine these three forms as needed:

    Expression Meaning
CM+10D Last day of current month + 10 days
CM+3M Last day of current month + 3 months

The following example shows how you can use a minus sign to indicate a date in the past:

    Expression Meaning
    -1Y 1 year ago
-CY-1Y First day of last year
-CM-1D Last day of last month
-CM-1D-1M Last day, two months ago
    Tip

You can also use a blank date formula, for example, filter records with empty date fields. The Date Calculation Type must be set to Date Formula for you to set BLANK in the Date Code field.

    Create Date Ranges

Once the date formulas you want to be able to use have been created, you can create date ranges.

    1. Choose the search icon (ALT+Q), enter Date Range and then choose the related link.
    2. Enter a code and a description.
    3. Select a date formula in the Start Date Formula Code and/or End Date Formula Code fields. Hover over a field to read a short description.
    4. The records inserted by a user will be set as User Defined.

The following example shows how a date range can be specified:

    Starting Date Ending Date Meaning
CM Until the end of current month, no specified starting date
-CY-1Y CY-1Y From the first day of last year until the last day of last year
-CQ From the first day of current quarter, no specified ending date
    Note

The area of use for entering a date range without a starting date or an ending date can, for example, be to specify a filter for closing balance or to include future records.

    Tip

When setting up functions with filters, it is good to choose a suitable level for each function. If the setting should apply to all companies, select Common, otherwise select Group, Environment or Company.
