About apps

An app is an extension available on Microsoft AppSource. With the help of apps in Dynamics 365 Business Central, you get tailored functions to your needs and a quality-assured extension from Microsoft. All apps available on AppSource undergo the Microsoft validation process to ensure that the extension is secure and meets the standard of Dynamics 365 Business Central regardless of version. Dynamics 365 Business Central is constantly updated with new and improved functionality and all apps must undergo a validation of the app before it is available on Microsoft AppSource. Selecting apps validated by Microsoft over extensions not available on AppSource gives you a more secure business application at a predictable cost and at the same time tailored to your needs.

Managing apps in Business Central

You manage the apps as extensions on the Extension Management page. You can access this page from Home. Alternatively, choose the search icon (ALT+Q), enter Extension, and then choose the related link. For more information, see Installing and Uninstalling Extensions on Microsoft Learn.

Caution

Make sure you do not use a role center that is connected to the app you are going to uninstall. If so, change to another role center before uninstalling the app.

Note

When uninstalling an app from SmartApps with an active subscription, remember to cancel the subscription.
