Workflows
Get Started and Publish
The workflow to get started with Badger and publish the reports to Power BI Services is as follows:
- All boxes containing 1 are further explained in chapter Download report package.
- All boxes containing 2 are further explained in chapter Publish the Power BI files to Power BI Services.
Create Power BI Reports
The workflow below starts with the Badger reports and dataset being published to Power BI Services, which is also the last step in the above workflow.
- Once a Badger Power BI file from SmartApps is published to Power BI Services, it is possible to connect to its dataset. See information on Microsoft Learn on how to connect to a Power BI dataset.
- See information on Microsoft Learn on how to create Power BI reports, in Power BI Desktop.
- It is possible to supplement the Badger reports with your own measures in Power BI Desktop.
- See more information on
Microsoft Learn on how to create measures.
- To dive a little deeper into DAX, see DAX basics in Power BI Desktop on Microsoft Learn.
- When the reports (and measures) are finished,
publish the report to Power BI Services.
- Select to publish the report to a shared workspace if you want to share it with others.
- Notice that in this workflow, only the report is published to Power BI Services, not the Dataset, as it has already been published and is the data source to this report.
Note
By creating new reports based on the Badger Dataset instead of editing the existing Badger Dataset/Report (Badger report file from smartappsford365.com), you make it possible to keep your custom reports even if a new Badger Dataset/Report is released by SmartApps and you select to publish and replace your existing Badger Dataset/Report with the new one.
