Getting Started
Download report package
All Badger Power BI files are available on SmartApps, choose to download the report package of your choice and open the file with Power BI Desktop.
Note
The Badger Power BI files on SmartApps can either contain one specific area, such as sales, finance or project or it can contain multiple areas.
Start using a Badger Power BI report containing one area
The Power BI files containing one area are named Badger - "Area". For example Badger - Sales or Badger - Finance. When opening a Power BI file for one area, you only need to fill in the connection URL for OData and the start month of the company´s fiscal year.
- Enter the OData V4 URL (Connection to Business Central)
- Choose the search icon in Business Central and enter Badger Setup, and then choose the related link.
- On FastTab Get started with Badger, select the Connection URL for OData feed link.
- Copy the address and paste it in the Power BI file.
- Enter Fiscal Start Month
- Select the first month of the company´s fiscal year.
- Select Load.
Tip
We recommend new users to start with the Badger Power BI reports with one area as this enables a fast and smooth start.
Note
The company name is a part of the OData V4 URL. Change company in Business Central and copy the OData V4 URL from the Badger Setup page. Save one Badger Power BI file for each company.

Start using the Badger Power BI reports containing multiple areas
The Power BI file containing multiple areas are named only Badger and has a much more complex dataset as it contains several areas such as sales, finance, project, and other.
In addition to completing the steps above, you also need to take additional steps to be able to start using the Badger file.
- Choose which areas to include by changing them to True.
- Select Edit (on the Load button).
- Open Power Query Editor
- Select the Refresh All action and then select the Close & Apply action.
- The file will be loaded with Fields from the chosen areas.
Tip
We recommend experienced Power BI users who want to create reports with data from several transaction tables in Business Central, such as, general ledger, customer ledger entries and value entries, to use the Badger file (containing multiple areas), but if you are new to Power BI you should always work with the Power BI files dedicated for one area.
Important
When you use the Badger file (that contains several areas) it is possible to create reports that show data that has not been filtered correctly as the data has no relationships, see more information about files containing several areas in How To.
Sign in
Sign in with your Office 365 account and choose connect. Now the Power BI reports are updating. As soon as all the tables have been updated you can start using the reports in Power BI desktop.
